100k Active Users on Google Analytics
I first put the game online on 3/7.
Until 3/16, daily users were only around the 200s. From 3/16 to 3/21, it was around 300 to 400 a day. Then on 3/22, it suddenly went viral somewhere and hit 11k. After that, it kept bringing in more than 5k users every day.
Exactly one month after things really took off on 3/22, on 4/21, it reached 100k Active Users on GA.
Right now, peak-time concurrent users are roughly around 1,000 to 2,000.
It was supposed to be a side project
When I first made this, I never expected anything like this to happen. It was just a small side project. For a side project, I thought it was pretty well made and pretty fun. So I just put it on the web and thought, if anyone wants to play it, they can. It really was just a rough hobby project.
But for a game site that I never marketed at all, far more people came than I expected, stayed much longer than I expected, and gave it much more love than I expected.
When users first started flooding in, the server was unstable pretty often. The infrastructure was never designed with this kind of traffic in mind, so there were a lot of things I had to fix. I spent a lot of time changing the structure, finding bottlenecks, changing deployment methods, and trying to make the whole thing more stable.
There are still unstable parts, and there is still a lot left to improve, but at least now it no longer just breaks because traffic gets high.
This is not a typical stateless web service. It is a real-time online game that keeps live connections open. So the fact that I built infrastructure that can handle 2,000 concurrent users reliably is something I am personally very, very proud of.
Every time I see people say that they are having fun, that they are playing it with friends, or that they are grateful I made it, it makes me really happy.
What's next
Right now, I am focusing on making the server even more stable and filtering out people who use macros. After that, I want to gradually add things like an account system and ranking.
I have been pretty busy lately, so I have not been able to reply to feedback right away, but I do read it all very gratefully, and I am trying my best to reflect as much of it as I can. Even if I see it late, I am not ignoring it.
Anyway, thank you so much for all the love. Please keep enjoying the game. I will keep working hard and keep updating it. Thank you.
